Description
The reason why I chose this idea (Fig 2.0) was because it resembles the original artwork and it's harmony and balance and I feel like I will be able to develop this idea further more compared to the other idea sketches. The chosen artwork is reinterpreted in this sketch (Fig 2.0). I took two elements from the original painting as inspiration. This sketch aims to draw attention more to the figures of the ladies and the boat in the distance.
3. Development Sketches
Painting - 01
Description
In the Painting (Figure 3.1) the two female figures are on top of a cliff overlooking the beach and ocean view with the boat in the distance sailing off. With very simple strokes I creating the sea, the sky and the cliff side using water colour technique with acrylic paint. In the painting (Fig 3.1) the boat is a little more emphasized then the girls bringing a harmonious balance to the painting from the right to left side of the painting.
Painting - 02
In this composition (Fig 3.3), I decided to bring forth the two female figures and add more details to them, bringing the focus on them and the cliff that they are viewing the oceanic scenery and less focus on the sail boat. I added few more details like the distant islands in the background and a few flowers onto the cliff.

4. Feedback
Week 06
On week 6 I had shown this blog with my 3 developed sketches and the feedback I received was overall good. I was told to add reference pictures for the above sketches as well as work on my 3 development sketch (Fig 3.3) by adding a few more elements to the painting like an extra boat sailing in the sea and moving the girl and adding another girl beside her.
Week 07
This week I did the final touches for Figure 3.3 and started painting the third development sketch. When I showed the updated sketch this week to Ms. Jinchi, she had advised me to move the figures a little to the center and correct the proportions of one of the female figures. Once i fixed the adjustments, i decided to add other details like more plants and a coconut tree to the side to fill in the empty spaces.
